Which pen is right for me?

Schon DSGN pens come in a variety of materials and finishes, each with a distinct feel and look. The aluminum and titanium pens are quite light (1 and 1.8 oz respectively), while stainless (2.9oz) , brass (3oz) and bronze(3.2oz) have a weighted feel. As a weight reference, 1 oz is approximately the weight of 5 American quarters. Below is an image of some worn in Schon DSGN pens. Where are Schon DSGN pens made?

Schon DSGN pens are American made and manufactured in small batches in Massachusetts. All machining, finishing and assembly is done within the state, while the ink is from Nevada and the Packaging is from Michigan.

How do you replace the ink/ What type of Ink do the pens use and where can I get replacements?

The setscrew in the back is removable when unscrewed counter clockwise with a flathead screwdriver. If the refill is stuck in the pen, use light pressure on the tip once the screw is removed in order to displace the cartridge. Schon DSGN pens use PR series Fisher Space pen ink cartridges. The pens come stock with a black medium refill, but can be replaced by the user with fine or bold refills as well as colored refills. Refills can be purchased @www.spacepen.com or at your local stationary store. Exploded pen

Do the appearances of the pens change over time and does the finish wear off?

All the pens are made of uncoated raw metals with the exception of the black anodized pen. The finishes on these raw metals will wear in over time and take on a patina based on how you interact with the pen and what you keep it with. Most pens come out of manufacturing with a very polished look and this will change as time goes on. The black pen is anodized and is quite durable. However, the black anodized finish if carried with your keys can develop small scratches and chips over time, revealing the raw aluminum below.
